These low carb, Keto-friendly fried dill pickle chips are cooked up in the air-fryer with a crunchy breading that will satisfy any craving. Season them with a Cajun kick or add your own favorite flavors.
Can you believe I had never had fried pickle chips until just a few years ago? My niece, who LOVES pickles had talked about how good they are so when I was at State Fair I decided to give them a try.
And yes, they were just as good as she had said they would be!
Unfortunately, the traditional fried pickles aren’t exactly a health food. This lightened-up recipe is low-carb and air-fried, so definitely a healthier way to indulge in this yummy fair food.
Between the low carb breading substitutions and the air-frying, these pickle chips are also keto-friendly!
Here’s what you need to gather together:
- about 40 Dill pickle round slices
- ½ C. Almond flour
- 1 C. Pork rinds crushed into crumbs
- 1 Egg
- ½ tsp. Cajun seasoning (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
How to Make Air Fried Fried Pickles
Here’s what you need to do. Set up an area where you can dip the pickles into the multiple coatings you will be using. If you’ve ever made your own chicken nuggets, you probably used a similar setup.
Start off by preheating your air frier to 350° if needed. If you are using any additional spices in addition to salt and pepper, add them to the almond flour now.
Then prepare the pickle chips one at a time. Dredge each one in the almond flour first.
Next, dredge in the egg.
Lastly, dredge in the crushed pork rinds and any seasoning you might add. You can do ranch, BBQ or cajun.
Once all the pickle chips are done, place them in the air fryer in a single layer. If you have a smaller air fryer, split the recipe into batches.
Cook in the air fryer for 10-15 minutes or until crispy, let cool a bit and enjoy!
What dipping sauce should I serve with my fried pickle chips?
The great thing about fried pickle chips is that they go with so many different sauces. You can dip them in traditional ranch sauce or an herbed mayo.
